DRYCRY RECORDS PODCAST #5

Podcast #5 is online and available as a free download below:

Tracklisting

1. Poliça – Lay Your Cards Out

Taken from their much hyped debut album, ‘Lay Your Cards Out’ perfectly encapsulates what Poliça are about. Although auto-tuned vocals, electronic soundscapes and two drummers sounds odd on paper, the result is fantastic, leading to Justin Vernon (Bon Iver) declaring “they’re the best band I’ve ever heard”.

2. Constantina – Juan, El Marinero

Here’s a beautiful track from DryCry’s latest release, ‘Haveno’ by Constantina. This is one of several tracks that has been regularly spotted on music blogs around the release and Constantina’s return to SXSW Festival. Music That Isn’t Bad declared “This Brazil-based group has found a way to mix the cinematic qualities of Explosions in the Sky with the electro-vamping of Jon Hopkins, and the result, a platter of delicious food for my ears”.

3. Tobias – I Lost My Memories In The Snow

It gives us great pleasure to preview a brand new track from DryCry artist Tobias. The follow up to ‘Circumstances‘ is expected to land in Autumn 2012. ‘I Lost My Memories In The Snow’ gives a great indication of what is to come, beautifully produced electronic music containing emotive melody and feeling.

4. St Lucia – Closer Then This

A great, feel good track from a brilliant EP. St. Lucia is Brooklyn based Jean-Philip Grobler, who creates summery electronic pop with similar aesthetics to Miike Snow. St. Lucia have recently graced the UK, impressing crowds at Camden Crawl and The Great Escape.

5. No Ceremony – Deliverus

Different to their usual style, but none the less awesome, Deliverus is a slow burning, reverb drenched  track that shows a positive new dimension to their repertoire.

6. Sleepwalkers – Rear Window (Barny Carter Remix)

Here’s a fresh re-working of Rear Window by Bristolian electronic talent Barny Carter. Barny’s music, which can be heard on his Soundcloud page, has been described by BBC’s Tom Robinson as “fresh and gorgeous”. We couldn’t agree more.

7. Sylver Tongue – Hook You Up

Sylver Tongue is Charlotte Hatherley from pop-punk band Ash. ‘Hook You Up’ is the first of two tracks Charlotte has revealed under the pseudonym. Very different to previous efforts, the new sound shows a lot of promise, leaving fans and journalists alike eagerly anticipating more.

9. Teddington Close – Girl in the Rain

Wrapping up the podcast is a track from Bristol based songwriter/musician Teddington Close. All the tracks we’ve heard of the record sounds fantastic so far… very organic and dynamic, with heaps of harmony and a very clever use of instrumentation.
